Magpies offload Luque to Ajax

12 April 2012

Albert Luque's miserable spell on Tyneside has come to an end after Ajax confirmed they had struck a deal with Newcastle for the forward.

Luque, who will join the Amsterdammers for an undisclosed fee, failed to shine at St James' Park following his £9.5million move from Deportivo La Coruna in August 2005.

According to an Ajax statement, the 29-year-old Spaniard will sign a three-year deal.

The move will free up further funds for Magpies boss Sam Allardyce, who looks to banish two of his most bitter memories in football tomorrow as he targets a first derby success as Newcastle boss.
