Marlet aims to make up for lost time

13 April 2012

Fulham's record £11.5 million signing Steve Marlet has vowed to make a "new start" following his first goal for the club on his return from injury.

Marlet is hoping for a place in the starting line-up for the first time in almost two months when Fulham take on Derby at Pride Park tonight.

The Frenchman managed only five starts for his new club after joining them from Lyon in September before he suffered a knee injury.

However, he came off the substitutes' bench to open his Fulham account with a late goal in the 3-2 defeat against Manchester United last Sunday.

Now he is determined to make even more of an impression as Fulham look to put their recent scoring problems behind them after hitting only four goals in December.

Marlet declared: "Now that I'm fit again, I will prove to everybody that I'm a good player. It is a new start for me."

Meanwhile, Fulham manager Jean Tigana has confirmed that he is looking to add to his squad.

"We need a big squad and It's possible that I need to bring in one or two new players," he said.
