'Match-fixing is still rife'

Chandra Shaffter, who was sacked as Sri Lanka's team manager halfway through their recent tour of England, has alleged that match fixing is still rife in cricket.

Shaffter insisted in Colombo that no Sri Lanka players were involved and added that his policy of playing by cricket's rule book may have cost him his job.

'I can't elaborate too much,' he said. 'But I can tell you the Sri Lankan team is absolutely clean. Some people want me out because I follow the rules. They may have been match fixers.'
