Maximum for Higgins isn't enough to stop Williams

Mark Williams added another piece of snooker silverware to last season's haul of world, UK and Masters titles by beating John Higgins 9-5 in the the LG Cup in Preston last night.

The Welsh star now has the grand slam of BBC televised events - a feat previously achieved only by Stephen Hendry and Steve Davis.

Higgins finished as runner-up despite breaks of 142 and a superb 147 maximum in frame 11.

Williams said afterwards: "Someone will have to play out of their skin to beat me. If I can play like that again I am going to be tough to beat."
