13 April 2012

Miroslav Klose, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira have all been forced to withdraw from the Germany squad for next Wednesday's friendly with England at Wembley.

Klose, the 29-year-old top scorer at the 2006 World Cup, misses out after being forced to leave the field with a knee injury during the 4-0 victory over his former club Werder Bremen yesterday.

Schweinsteiger, 23, misses out because of back problems while 20-year-old Khedira, who plays for German champions Stuttgart, has hurt his right foot.

A statement posted on the www.dfb.de read: "Miroslav Klose, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Sami Khedira are withdrawing from the game for the German national team on Wednesday against England in London.

"The withdrawals were communicated to the coach of the national team, Joachim Low, at noon today.

"Any new call-ups will probably be decided on Sunday evening."

Low has called up David Odonkor of Real Betis and Gonzalo Castro of Bayer Leverkusen to help cover for the injured trio.
