McCormack joins Hull KR

12 April 2012

Steve McCormack has joined Hull Kingston Rovers as their new assistant coach - just a day after resigning as the coach of Widnes.

The 34-year-old, who has signed a two-year deal, said: "I have a burning desire to succeed at the highest level, and I'm grateful for this opportunity.

"It'll be a great challenge for me coaching at a Super League club again, and one I'm excited to be part of. I'm looking forward to working with Justin (Morgan, head coach) and the players."

McCormack had been linked with the vacant position at Barrow, but the lure of the top flight proved too strong.

Morgan said: "Steve is a welcome addition - he's a coach with vast amounts of experience that will benefit the club. I'm looking forward to Steve joining the team and working with him next year."
