McIntosh upbeat

14 April 2012

Stuart McIntosh insists he is in "good shape" ahead of the C1 canoeing semi-final tomorrow.

"I had a solid first run but made mistakes in my second," said McIntosh, who qualified in fifth place.

"However, to finish only a second-andahalf behind the leader having performed an eskimo roll down that second run shows that I'm in good shape.

"Today was about qualifying, now I'll concentrate on the next stage."

Meanwhile, Ian Lawson produced a late charge to win his repechage and qualify for the semi-finals of the men's single sculls. He recovered from a slow start with a smooth stroke to claw back the leaders.
