McPhail to sign loan deal with Millwall

13 April 2012

Millwall are set to sign Leeds United playmaker Stephen McPhail on loan until the end of the season.

Lions manager Mark McGhee admitted: "I have been interested in him for a long time.

"Stephen is a player, who, at the moment, we couldn't afford to bring in on a permanent basis.

"He is an international class midfielder who I hope will encourage us to play a bit more football over the remaining games." The left-footed 22-year-old, who missed much of last season through injury, was named Young Player of the Year at Leeds in 1997.

The London-born player also has five caps for the Republic of Ireland.
