McSorley approached for Great Britain job

13 April 2012

Canadian Chris McSorley has been approached to coach the Great Britain team. The London Knights coach has been offered a three-year deal to take over from Peter Woods, whose contract has expired.

The position of GB coach is on a part-time basis and McSorley would be able to continue his full-time role as head coach of the Knights for the remainder of his two-year contract.

The 38-year-old McSorley will have to seek clearance from Anschutz, owners of the London Knights, before he can take on the GB job.

Meanwhile, Knights have a clean bill of health as they prepare for Saturday's visit to Nottingham Panthers.

With the return from injury of the unfortunate Brendan Yarema, McSorley has every player available for what must be the first time since he took charge of the team in the summer of 1998.

Yarema, 25, broke his right hand on his Knights' debut.

That injury put him out for two weeks and, on his return against Manchester Storm, he was sidelined for six weeks when a clearance from team-mate Mikko Koivunoro saw the puck catch him in the face, breaking his jaw.
