Millwall move to keep stars

13 April 2012

Millwall chairman Theo Paphitis is warning clubs interested in his best players that any formal approach will receive short shrift.

A number of Premiership sides, including Graham Taylor's Aston Villa, have been linked with midfielder Tim Cahill, 22, and 23-year-old striker Richard Sadlier, who is in the Republic of Ireland squad for Wednesday's friendly against Russia in Dublin.
Paphitis said: "We have kept this club on an even keel so we don't have to be a selling club. We haven't invested in our young players so we can let them go when we are doing well in the First Division. I understand a figure of £7million has been mentioned for both Sadlier and Cahill. We value them at more than that but we don't want to sell, it's as simple as that."
Cahill and Paul Ifill scored the Millwall goals in their 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
