Millwall's Reid set for scan

Leo Spall13 April 2012

Millwall's Republic of Ireland midfielder Steven Reid was due to have a scan on an injured ankle today after breaking down in training.

Manager Mark McGhee was hoping to have the 21-year-old back in time to play against Gillingham on Saturday but he suffered a setback on Friday and missed the 1-0 defeat.

Reid, who played twice for the Irish at the World Cup finals, has not featured in any of Millwall's first three Division One games and the team have struggled to find their best form. They have earned one point from their first three matches and failed to score. McGhee says he is trying to find a way to bring in new faces and expects midfielder Andy Roberts, who has returned from Wimbledon on a one-month contract, to sign long-term.

Next 3 games: Saturday, Ipswich (H); 26 Aug, Sheffield Utd (A); 31 Aug, Grimsby (H) Last three games: L6-0, D0-0, L1-0 Last meeting against Ipswich (1995/96): W2-1 (H), D0-0 (A)
