Mourinho is the new Brian Clough, says Laws

Scunthorpe manager Brian Laws today likened Jose Mourinho to English football legend Brian Clough.

Laws, whose Scunthorpe side take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, played for Nottingham Forest under Clough and said today: "There are similarities between the two. Jose Mourinho seems an intelligent guy who knows exactly what he is doing. He doesn't hide, he is prepared to upset people and he has a touch of arrogance.

"There is something of the Brian Clough about him. Jose has ruffled a few feathers since he's been here and, for me, that's a refreshing change."

Laws was a member of the Forest team which lost to Tottenham in the 1991 FA Cup Final and is relishing the opportunity to put his League Two team up against the best in the land.

"You can't get a bigger contrast between the two," said Laws. "Chelsea have all those riches and my team tomorrow will not have cost a penny in transfer fees.

"The only player who commanded a fee is Steve Torpey and he is suspended, but we're looking forward to this.

"There are 6,000 fans coming down from Scunthorpe, which is 10 per cent of the population, and it will be a great day out for them. I came down to watch Chelsea beat Middlesbrough on Tuesday night and they were very impressive. I honestly can't see Chelsea slipping up in the title race.

"We're also in a good position for promotion and so we don't want to be walloped tomorrow. It's a nice change from the pressure of the League, but we have to keep the score down."

Chelsea hope to give a debut to new midfield signing Jiri Jarosik, who agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with the club yesterday.

But Frank Lampard is suspended while Carlo Cudicini will replace Petr Cech in goal.
