Muntari nears Pompey switch

12 April 2012

Udinese are optimistic Sulley Muntari´s transfer to Portsmouth will go through by the end of the week.

The Ghana midfielder travelled last week to England to agree personal terms with Pompey after both clubs had reached a deal for the 22-year-old midfielder, and the transfer is now close to completion.

"Muntari has yet to reach personal terms with Portsmouth," said Udinese general director Roberto Zanzi to PA Sport. "We are confident that the deal will be completed and expect his move to be finalised in the next coming days."

Muntari moved to Udinese in 2001 before making his debut the following year.

He made 28 league appearances and scored three goals this season for the Friuli club, who finished a disappointing 10th position in the Serie A standings.
