Neil Warnock’s hospital management

Palace appointment? Sheffield United’s Danny Webber could be moving south

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock hopes to seal a move for Sheffield United's Danny Webber from his hospital bed.

Warnock is due to undergo surgery on a chronic hip complaint but is still hopeful of conducting transfer business, with Webber top of his shopping list.

The 27-year-old striker, who is a long-standing target for Warnock, is out of contract next month and is unlikely to be offered a new deal. Warnock said: "We've already spoken to players about next season. Those players know I'm going to be in hospital until Monday, but depending on how I feel I will speak to them from my hospital bed."

Shefki Kuqi, meanwhile, admits other sides are interested in signing him as Palace stall on offering him a new deal. The Finn said: "I want to listen to Palace's offer but my phone has been ringing every day."
