New deal for Gaskell

England Saxons forward James Gaskell has signed a two-year contract extension with Aviva Premiership club Sale Sharks.

The 20-year-old's new deal will keep him at Sale until June 2014. He is a product of the club's academy system.

Gaskell, equally at home as a flanker or lock, said: "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and I firmly believe the club is going in the right direction."

He added: "I sat down with Steve Diamond (Sale executive sport director) soon after he was appointed and he told me about the club's vision, and I want to play a part in it."

Diamond added: "James is the type of player we want to build the future of the club around. He is a very talented individual with a great work ethic and is respected by everyone at the club."
