New injury fears over Redknapp

Jamie Redknapp has been dealt another big injury blow after hurting his knee during the defeat by Southampton.

The Spurs skipper is understood to have received a kick on the knee that has been further aggravated because of the hard pitches this season.

Redknapp underwent career saving surgery on his knee while with Liverpool and there are fears the new injury may have caused more damage.

Redknapp is out of tonight's match at Coventry and Sunday's clash with Manchester City. Doctors ordered him to stop having injections to kill the pain in a bid to prevent any long-term damage. Caretaker manager David Pleat said: "Jamie isn't in the squad. He got a kick on the knee and has a bit of inflammation and he won't travel.

"Gus Poyet is fit and returns and there is also a couple of youngsters in there in John Jackson and Jonathan Blondel."

Simon Davies is still out with a groin problem along with defender Ledley King.

Coventry v Tottenham, Highfield Road, tonight, 7.45pm, Sky Sports 2
