Nigel off to a flyer

Alan Pardew was delighted with his team's 2-1 win over Rotherham and with the impressive debut of Nigel Reo-Coker.

The West Ham manager said: "He's a very level-headed young man with great leadership qualities. He should make a great West Ham captain one day."

Pardew will target a wide midfielder and a goalkeeper this week as he seeks to boost his squad. He could move for Sunderland keeper Thomas Myhre, while he has signed midfielder Sebastian Carol from Monaco.
