Scotland boss Craig Levein has been hit by nine withdrawals ahead of his side's friendly against the Faroe Islands at Pittodrie on Tuesday.

The former Hearts and Dundee United manager had already left several regulars out of his original squad, including Rangers trio Allan McGregor, Kenny Miller and Lee McCulloch.

However, the Scottish Football Association on Sunday announced that Christophe Berra (knee), Chris Burke (groin), Gary Caldwell (thigh), Graham Dorrans (foot), Matt Gilks (knee), Alan Hutton (groin), James Morrison (knee), Steven Naismith (shoulder) and Steven Whittaker (knee) have all withdrawn.

Celtic skipper Shaun Maloney, Wigan defender Steven Caldwell, Dundee United defender Garry Kenneth, Blackpool full-back Stephen Crainey, Kilmarnock skipper Craig Bryson and Middlesbrough midfielder Barry Robson have been drafted into the squad.

More players could be added to the squad on Monday depending on availability.
