Norway? No way, not yet, insists Natalie

14 April 2012

Natalie Evans has temporarily put off her plans to live in Norway so she can help Penwortham win the The Mail on Sunday Golf Club Classic.

Evans, 20, a former Lancashire junior who played in Penwortham's first five matches this year, had left for Norway when she was called back for last week's UK Finals and was one of the winners in the 3-2 win over Ferndown.

Captain Elizabeth Burns said: "Natalie had gone out to join her brother in Norway but happily she is now going to stay in the UK until the Grand Finals, which is a big plus for us."

In the men's competition, Mid-Herts have the chance to make it a hat-trick of wins for the county after The Hertfordshire's victories in 2004 and 2005.

Captain Chris Tingey, a former professional, said: "This is the biggest thing that's ever happened to the club, and playing in the finals will certainly get the adrenaline going again."

Tingey, who played on the European Challenge Tour and in the United States during the 1990s, has already tried out the superb PGA de Catalunya course near Barcelona, the venue for the Grand Finals.

He said: "It's an excellent test which is used for the PGA Tour school, so it will produce good champions."
