Novo proud of Rangers career

12 April 2012

Nacho Novo has no idea whether his long-term future lies at Rangers but insists when he eventually leaves Ibrox it will be with his head held high.

The Spanish striker looked set to quit during the August transfer window but a move to Coventry fell through and he was left to fight for his place. However, Novo admits he still does not know whether his rediscovered form will be enough to win him a new deal.

He said: "I don't know what is going to happen - I leave that to the club. I still have 18 months of my contract left. You never know what will happen in football."

He added: "If I leave Rangers one day, I want to leave from the front door, never from the back door.

"If I had left in the summer, it would have been from the back door.

"Last year, I had had operations and wasn't fit and I was in the stand all the time. I don't want to leave like that."

He added: "Sometimes you feel like you are nothing. It's in the mind.

"I used to moan all the time because I wasn't playing and I couldn't be bothered to train because I wasn't playing.

"Now I have learned that, if you want to play football, you must fight. I'll fight and fight for that."
