O'Neill eyes up Campbell move

13 April 2012

Celtic manager Martin O'Neill admits he is keen to bring Tottenham defender Sol Campbell to Parkhead.

O'Neill has already taken his team-mate Ramon Vega on loan and now he wants to add the England defender to his side.

Campbell could be set to leave White Hart Lane when his current deal expires in the summer, and the Celtic boss insists he is not afraid to make his interest in the player known.

"We might not be every single player's cup of tea," O'Neill told the News of the World.

"You have to consider what a player might want for himself.

"Someone like Sol Campbell will have choices not only of a number of clubs but of a number of leagues across Europe.

"But that is what we must be aspiring to.

"The fact that they might say 'It's not for me at this particular time' wouldn't prevent me asking about the likes of that standard of player.

"I'm not afraid of getting knock-backs. I've had plenty of them in my time.

"I'm looking to get a few players in for next year and because I'm only going to have a month to do it I already have a list of out-of-contract players."
