Australia vs England: Rory Arnold could prove a giant headache in Brisbane

Rory Arnold, the 6ft 10in Brumbies lock, will make history against England on Saturday in Brisbane when he becomes the tallest player to pull on a Wallaby jersey.

Although Arnold missed out on selection for last autumn’s World Cup, the near-19st forward has impressed head coach Michael Cheika with his physicality and work-rate for the Brumbies and during training with the Wallabies over the past two weeks.

Arnold will be asked to pose the same kind of line-out threat that Devon Toner (6ft 11in) gives Ireland and Luke Charteris (6ft 10in) adds to the Welsh cause and his selection means Test rugby now boasts three of the tallest players to ever take to the pitch.

Wallaby coach Cheika, meanwhile, has reacted to England head coach Eddie Jones’s claim that this will be a rugby version of the famous “Bodyline” cricket tour in the 1930s.

"I understand the analogy but I’m not sure what it means," said Cheika.

"I don’t know if it means head high tackles or if it means aggression. If it means aggressive footy, that’s good. That’s the game, it’s meant to be. Respect to our opponents if they bring it on."
