Andy Murray is happy to face any nation in the Davis Cup after clinching Great Britain's spot in the elite World Group at the expense of Croatia on Sunday.

Murray was in irresistible form for Britain over the weekend, winning both his singles matches in straight sets as well as partnering Colin Fleming to doubles success, despite nursing a slight back injury all along.

It was the Scot's 6-4 6-2 6-4 victory over world number 35 Ivan Dodig in the reverse singles on Sunday which gave Britain an unassailable 3-1 lead, with Dan Evans later defeating Mate Pavic 6-4 7-6 (7/4) to put the gloss on a memorable weekend.

Tougher tests await for Britain and Murray, yet the Wimbledon champion's only wish for their next encounter is a home clash.

"I don't really mind (who we face next). There's certain teams you'd like to avoid but there's teams we'd have a good chance of winning against," he told Radio 5 Live.

"I just want a home tie. To get back in the World Group, get a big arena and play against one of the top teams at home would be good."

Murray, who played his first Davis Cup tie in two years on the clay of the Stadion Stella Maris in Umag, has indicated his desire to play in the World Group, fitness permitting, and has plenty of confidence in the team, captained by Leon Smith.

"I feel we're ready to do well," he added. "We have a top doubles team.

"Dan (Evans) and James (Ward) will continue to improve, get their rankings up a little bit between now and the end of the year, and we've got the makings of a very solid team.

"If I'm fit and healthy I'll be there to play."

With world number three Murray leading the charge, Smith will be hoping Evans can continue his recent form that saw him reach the third round of the US Open.

For the time being, however, Smith was content to hail a job well done in Croatia.

He said: "It's been a long journey a real team effort and couldn't be done without all the backroom staff.

"I'm delighted, really delighted. Team spirit has got us back and that makes the difference."
