After a scintillating and hugely successful Sunday, which saw Great Britain win 21 medals including eight golds, the nation tasted more success on day five of the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.

Will Bayley, who won silver at London 2012, went one better than four years ago on Monday as he stormed to victory in his gold medal table tennis singles match.

Aled Davies then followed that up with gold in the F42 shot put after setting a new Paralympic record before the evening round of matches saw John Stubbs and Jodie Grinham take silver in the mixed team compound open archery final.

There was disappointment for other Great Britain athletes, however, as David Weir and Richard Chiassaro failed to win a medal in the T54 400m final.

Six-time Paralympic champion Weir - who missed the birth of his second son and fourth child on Sunday due to being in Brazil - lost his winning streak after finishing in fifth place as Chiassaro came in fourth.

Great Britain's boccia BC4 pairs team also had to make do without a medal after being beaten 3-2 by Thailand in their bronze medal match while Sue Gilroy was also defeated 3-2 in her bronze medal table tennis match.

Despite those disappointments, Britain remain in second place in the medals table with 59 medals overall and 25 golds with China sitting atop the table with 40 gold medals.
