Andy Murray today hailed Wimbledon as the greatest tennis tournament in the world.
Organisers yesterday announced that prize money would increase by 40 per cent for this year’s Championships and revealed plans for a retractable roof for Court One.
And the world No3 (above) wrote on Twitter today: “If it wasn’t official before it is now. Wimbledon is the biggest and the best tennis tournament bar none. Always looking out for the best interests of our sport. As has always been the case Wimbledon continues to lead our sport in the right direction . . . right from the front.” This year’s event starts on June 24.
