Palace clash for El Guerrouj

13 April 2012

World champion Hicham El Guerrouj will race Olympic gold medallist Noah Ngeny in the 1500 metres at next month's British Grand Prix at Crystal Palace.

It will be the first time they have competed against each other since Kenya's Ngeny was a surprise winner over the Moroccan world record holder at the Sydney Olympics.

It could also be one of the last times the pair meet in competition before El Guerrouj moves up to 5,000 metres.

"It was great to beat Hicham in Sydney and win the gold medal," said Ngeny. "I know he will want to gain revenge but I want to go out and prove that I'm a worthy champion. I'm really looking forward to meeting him again and continuing our track rivalry."
