Palace prepare for Bradford clash

13 April 2012

Andy Johnson is expected to be fit for tonight's home clash with Bradford. The former Birmingham striker was taken to hospital following a neck injury during Saturday's 2-1 win at Preston and has been diagnosed with spinal shock.

Palace physio George Cooper confirmed: "Andrew was given a neurological assessment at the hospital and they were satisfied that there were no fractures in his neck and no soft tissue damage.

"Andrew's now got full movement back in his arm. He's got whiplash-type pain in his neck but he's been walking around without a neckbrace on. He's just a bit shaken up."

The 21-year-old is likely to start on the bench for Palace with manager Trevor Francis likely to select Stephen Kabba, who scored the winner at Preston, as his replacement.

Hard-up Bradford, who opened their account with a point against Wolves on Sunday, include winger Gus Uhlenbeek for the trip to Selhurst Park. The Dutchman is playing without a contract.

Manager Nicky Law, lifted by their goalless draw, is in determined mood. He said: "Everyone has tipped us for relegation and there is no greater incentive to stick it up them. That's what we have to do."
