Panesar and Plunkett recalled

12 April 2012

England recalled Monty Panesar and Liam Plunkett for their NatWest Series decider against West Indies at Trent Bridge, in which the tourists won the toss and decided to bat.

Left-arm spinner Panesar replaced Michael Yardy while Plunkett came in for Nottinghamshire's Ryan Sidebottom, despite his knowledge of the ground.

That meant England's XI was the same that won the opening contest in the three-match campaign at Lord's last weekend.

England went down by 61 runs at Edgbaston, however, to turn this game into the equivalent of a final.

West Indies star batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul was declared fit after he incurred ankle ligament damage during his unbeaten 116 in Birmingham.

Chanderpaul tested the injury at indoor practice on Friday and he will try to extend his extraordinary run of form on the tour which has seen the Guyanese left-hander pass 50 in all seven of his Test and one-day international innings.

West Indies therefore retained the same XI which levelled things at 1-1 on Wednesday.
