Pardew praises Rebrov

Evening Standard14 April 2012

Alan Pardew hailed Sergei Rebrov after the striker fired a much-changed West Ham side into the third round of the Carling Cup with a 3-2 win over Notts County.

Bobby Zamora twice put the Hammers in front - including an opener after only 18 seconds - only for Kelvin Wilson and Ian Richardson to equalise, before Ukrainian Rebrov scored his first goal for the club with a long-range free-kick.

Zamora also spurned the chance to complete his hattrick 11 minutes from time when his well-struck penalty was saved by Saul Deeney.

Manager Pardew said: "I was pleased for Sergei and that will do him the world of good. He showed some good touches and hopefully he can kick on in the first team now. We are bubbling along nicely."

The Hammers, containing six changes to the side which drew with Ipswich, were booed off at half-time, but fought back to give Pardew his sixth win in eight games.
