Patrick Mahomes has been named as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at Super Bowl LIV.

The 24-year-old star quarterback scooped the award after leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a remarkable 31-20 comeback victory over the San Francisco 49ers at Miami's Hard Rock Stadium.

Mahomes shook off two interceptions to lead three consecutive late touchdown drives for 21 unanswered points after Andy Reid's men entered the fourth quarter trailing 20-10.

He finished the night with 286 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and a rushing score, which came in the first quarter.

He enters the record books as the youngest player ever to win a regular-season MVP award (in 2018) and Super Bowl title.

"We have heart," Mahomes said. "That's just from day one. Coach pushes us to be the best people that we can be, and we never give up."

He added: "We never lost faith. That's the biggest thing. Everybody on this team, no one had their head down. And we believed in each other.

"And that's what we preached all year long - and we had this guy [Reid] right here to get us there. And we found a way to get it in the end."
