Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has wished Christian Wade good luck as the former Wasps player attempts to make the move into the NFL.

Wade, 27, quit Wasps last week to pursue a career in American football, which he described as being a "huge mountain to climb".

The former England international will join the NFL's Player Pathway programme, which creates an extra spot in a team's practice roster for an overseas player.

One British player to have recently progressed through the pathway system into an NFL team is Efe Obada, who plays for the Carolina Panthers.

Wade was present at Wembley on Sunday as the Eagles beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 24-18 and, after the game, Eagles wide receiver Jeffery admitted he was looking forward to Wade making the transition to American football.

"If he wants it bad enough he can go and get it," Jeffery told Standard Sport about Wade's ambition to become an NFL player.

"Just always believe in yourself, keep working hard and have faith.

"It isn’t where you start, it's where you finish. That's all it's about - believing in yourself and keep working hard and let the chips fall where they may."

When asked about the demands of the NFL and the challenge that lies in wait for Wade, Jeffery replied: "It's pretty physical, but I look forward to him making the transition. Best of luck to him."

The Eagles' win over the Jaguars broke the attendance record for an NFL game in the UK, with 85,870 people turning up to Wembley for what was the third and final match in London this year.

And Jeffery said of the Super Bowl champions' trip to the capital: "It was a great experience, it was awesome and hopefully we get to come back again sometime soon.

"I didn't know it was a record but that's a great turnout. It's great for the NFL, the Eagles and the Jaguars. That's awesome."
