Pique’s staying put, says Fergie

Manchester United's Spanish defender Gerard Pique has been told by manager Sir Alex Ferguson that he will not be allowed to leave.

Pique scored his first goal for United in the 4-0 Champions League defeat of Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday as he filled in for the rested Rio Ferdinand.

He is constantly courted by clubs in his home country but Ferguson has told Pique he is part of United's future.

Ferguson said: "I'm not surprised so many Spanish clubs want him. He's 20, can play centre midfield and right back as well as central defence. We've no intention of letting him go."
