Poching final game for Leeds

12 April 2012

Willie Poching will captain Leeds on his farewell appearance against former club Wakefield in the Tetley's Festive Challenge at Headingley Carnegie on Boxing Day.

Poching missed the end of last season after having a knee reconstruction and then announced his retirement from the game to join Leeds' coaching staff.

The Rhinos' line-up includes six players who helped England to victory in the Federation Shield in November but none of the Test stars involved in the Tri-Nations Series. Attention is expected to focus on prop forward Kylie Leuluai, Leeds' close-season signing from Manly Sea Eagles.

"He (Leuluai) is a no-nonsense player who gets on with the job without complaining," said coach Tony Smith. "I am sure he will become a crowd favourite."

Wakefield include new signings Peter Fox, Paul March, Ricky Bibey, Jason Golden, Matty Blaymire, Luke George, Danny Lima and Richard Moore.
