Ponting celebrates Ashes success

12 April 2012

Australia captain Ricky Ponting felt his team had been well rewarded for their hard work after regaining the Ashes in Perth.

Ponting told Sky Sports: "We had a long time to think about it (2005 Ashes defeat in England) and get ready for the series. We had to try to find ways to improve and I think we did that.

"Adelaide (second Test) was the best win I've been involved with and we will remember this win for a long time."

The next target in the Australians' sights is winning the series 5-0.

Ponting added: "It's elation as far as I'm concerned. Relief may come after the last Test but we've won three Tests and won back the Ashes.

"We've got two Test matches to play and obviously I want to see another couple of performances from the boys."
