Pucciarello gets Italy call

13 April 2012

Italy have called in Gloucester prop Federico Pucciarello for tomorrow's game against Scotland in Rome as the Azzurri attempt to repeat their only Six Nations win to date.

In the corresponding fixture two years ago, Italy, playing their inaugural Championship clash, stunned then champions Scotland 34-20.

Pucciarello replaces Padova's Andrea Muraro in one of three changes from the defeat by France. Scotland played well in the second half against England but could not score points, thanks in part to Duncan Hodge's wayward kicking.

He makes way for Gregor Townsend at fly-half with Chris Paterson taking over the kicking.

Coach Ian McGeechan is confident Simon Taylor will recover from injury and start.
