Scathing: Harry Redknapp
Simon Johnson21 October 2014

Harry Redknapp today launched a new attack on Adel Taarabt branding him the worst professional he had ever worked with and saying he had only lost weight because he had tonsillitis.

The Queens Park Rangers manager sparked the war of words after his side’s 3-2 loss to Liverpool on Sunday when he said he left the winger out of the side because he was “three stone over weight”.

That led to an angry response from Taarabt last night who blasted Redknapp’s coaching methods and rejected suggestions he was too fat, posing for pictures with his shirt up to show his stomach.

QPR were today considering punishing Taarabt for his outburst but Redknapp weighed into the row again as he slammed the Morocco international.z something which the club are considering punishing Taarabt for.

“The only reason he lost weight is because he has had tonsillitis,” said Redknapp. “That’s the only way we could get any weight off of him.

“He is not fit to play a game, that’s the truth. He is the worst professional I have ever come across and I have been his only ally at QPR for the past three years. He doesn’t try and I have protected him for too long. He doesn’t want to run around. I have tried to protect him until now but the fans have to know what is going on.

“Even I could suck my stomach in for a picture and look okay.”

Taarabt is on £65,000 a week and QPR are ready to punish the player
