QPR still confident of deal

QPR are still confident of signing Ipswich defender Georges Santos despite the deal being delayed by "a number of contractual issues".

The 33-year-old French defender successfully completed a medical at Loftus Road yesterday and confirmed that he is happy to sign for Ian Holloway's team.

But Santos, available on a free transfer, is unlikely to put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the club for another few days. A club spokesman said: "There are a number of contractual issues to be ironed out."

QPR continue their pre-season programme tonight with a visit to Bristol Rovers.
