Qualifier Martin Gould dominated the early stages of his second-round match against Neil Robertson this morning at the Betfred.com World Snooker Championship.

The 28-year-old former poker croupier from London won all four frames before the mid-session interval, with Robertson scoring just 26 points.

Robertson potted the first red of the match but the session deteriorated thereafter for the Australian, who reached the semi-finals at the Crucible last year.

Fresh from his surprise win over seed Marco Fu in the first round, Gould took the opening frame convincingly before breaks of 70, 116 and 80 won him the next three.

Meanwhile, Northern Ireland's Mark Allen and Englishman Mark Davis were contesting the second session of their match.

Allen, the 24-year-old from Antrim who also reached the last four in 2009, carried a 5-3 overnight lead into the morning's play.

He improved that advantage to 8-4, needing five more frames for victory.
