Rain holds up Middlesex

13 April 2012

Middlesex's Benson & Hedges Cup clash with Essex at Lord's has been abandoned because of heavy rain.

No play was possible before lunch, and umpires David Constant and Allan Jones called the game off following a 2pm inspection.

Each side will be awarded one point towards their group stage tally.

Meanwhile, former Australian Test batsmen Dean Jones and Allan Border are planning a 613-mile charity walk from Sydney to Brisbane. They aim to arrive at the Gabba ground on 7 November - for the First Test against England.

Good on you, Shoaib
