Ramos faces keeper decision

12 April 2012

Juande Ramos will decide in the next two days whether to restore Paul Robinson to Tottenham's starting XI after dropping the goalkeeper against Arsenal.

Robinson paid the price for his high-profile errors this season in favour of Radek Cerny, who could not be faulted for Theo Walcott's fortuitous equaliser in the 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium, leaving Ramos with a decision to make ahead of the Barclays Premier League clash at Chelsea on Saturday.

"We haven't decided yet if he will play on Saturday. He is a good goalkeeper which he has demonstrated with his career so far, we all know what a good goalkeeper he is," said the Spurs head coach.

"There are 24-25 players in the squad and they all have to play at some point and make the most of the minutes they have on the pitch.

"All of the players are important, all are considered and I choose who I think is best for each match. Only 11 can play."

Arsene Wenger admitted his relief at coming away with a draw after Spurs had the better of the chances, although he was reluctant to credit Ramos' ruthless decision for the visitors' performance.

"Ruthless decisions can always be dangerous," the Arsenal boss said. "They were lively but how much did the manager's decision contributed to that is something I don't know."

Jermaine Jenas opened the scoring eight minutes before the break when he tucked away Robbie Keane's cross.

The leveller came in the 79th minute after Young-Pyo Lee's clearance, as Walcott was shooting, went in off the Arsenal youngster's stomach.
