Real coach rues missed opportunities

On target: Ronaldo opened the scoring for Real
13 April 2012

Real Madrid coach Vicente Del Bosque believes his side should have opened up more than a one-goal lead to take to their Champions League semi-final second leg in Turin next week.

Goals from Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos gave the reigning champions a 2-1 win, but the tie is still open after David Trezeguet's 45th-minute goal for Juventus.

"We controlled the first half and dominated the game, but in the second half Juventus had much more control," Del Bosque said. "I think we could have had another goal at the end and I thought it could have been a bigger win."

Real's winner came in the 73rd minute when Roberto Carlos shot home from outside the penalty area with three of their players in offside positions. The linesman raised his flag but the goal was allowed to stand.

In the build-up to tonight's other semi-final, Internazionale coach Hector Cuper refuted that city rivals AC Milan start as favourites at the San Siro.

Milan have won their derby meetings in Serie A this season, but Cuper said: "We lost those games due to errors. I don't see why Milan are called favourites."
