Rebecca Romero misses out on world contest

Rebecca Romero has failed to make the cut for Britain's team for the Track Cycling World Championships, which take place in Apeldoorn, Holland this month.

Romero, who won Olympic gold at the individual pursuit in Beijing, was competing for a place in the threewoman, 3km team pursuit, but has missed out on selection and has yet to race for Britain since 2008.

Other omissions from the 17-strong team include Shanaze Reade and Sarah Storey.
