Robben left flabbergasted

14 April 2012

Arjen Robben said he was "flabbergasted" at Holland coach Dick Advocaat's decision to substitute him during the 3-2 defeat by the Czech Republic.

Advocaat took off Chelsea winger Robben early in the second half, when the Dutch were leading 2-0.

The Dutch players have told the coach what they think of his move to replace the 20-year-old with defensive midfielder Paul Bosvelt.

Robben, who had set up both Dutch goals, said he was disappointed and flabbergasted to be taken off.

He added: "The choice was a tactical change and I was the victim of it.

"I was doing well in the match and wanted to carry on. All the players had that idea."

Holland will go out if the Czechs lose to Germany in their final Group D game.

Germany coach Rudi Voller said: "I've said all along that two draws and a win will get us through and now we need that win."
