Ronnie O'Sullivan to face Luca Brecel in Power Snooker opener

The draw for the inaugural Power Snooker event saw tournament favourite Ronnie O'Sullivan pitted against Belgian Luca Brecel.

O'Sullivan, who has helped construct the new format, said: "I was hoping to get one of the more well-known lads as I don't think Power Snooker will suit them. Luca is a real wildcard and I think he will be waiting to put me on my backside!"

The rest of the draw sees Ding Junhui taking on Jimmy White, Masters Champion Mark Selby facing Ali Carter and current world champion Neil Robertson drawing former world champion Shaun Murphy.

Snooker supremo Barry Hearn said: "It looks like a cracking line-up with four really good matches in the first round. Fans who are there in the arena or watching on TV are in for a fantastic day of entertainment."

The event takes place at the Indigo2 arena on October 30 and will be televised on ITV4.
