Rose left trailing by super Swede

13 April 2012

Swede Fredrik Jacobson charged into a three-stroke lead over England's Justin Rose and Scotland's Sandy Lyle at rain-hit Loch Lomond today.

Jacobson was on 10 under after 16 holes in the Barclays Scottish Open, helped by five successive birdies from the fifth, as the first of the heavy rain started.

The Swede, who shot a 66 yesterday, turned in 31 to open up a four-shot lead before bogeying the 12th. Another birdie on the 14th put him back to 10-under.

Rose was only one under for the day after eight holes, but rejuvenated Lyle picked up three shots today by the 12th to join him in second place.

Meanwhile, Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke and Ernie Els had to battle to survive the halfway cut.

The axe was expected to fall at two over but birdies at the last for Els and Montgomerie left them on par and one over respectively. Clark was also left sweating on one over.
