Harlequins have been boosted by young back-rower Alex Dombrandt’s decision to commit to the club for the next two seasons.

Dombrandt has been involved in England squads over the last year but is yet to make his full debut.

He was of interest to Northampton, among others, but has signed a new two-year deal.

“I am really excited to have committed my future to Quins, a club I have loved as a fan and a player over the years,” said the 22-year-old.

“I am excited by the direction the club is going in and having Gussy [Paul Gustard], the coaches and great players in place, there’s no reason why we can’t be moving on up.”

Gustard said: “Alex is a brilliant kid and is part of a strong spine of young English talent that we want to drive our club forward as we look to compete regularly for silverware.”

Quins are set to announce a new contract for another senior player on Friday, but it is expected that prop Kyle Sinckler will leave for Bristol at the end of his contract this year.
