England coaches Andy Farrell, Graham Rowntree and Mike Catt are expected to discover their fate today as new head coach Eddie Jones begins the process of putting together his own off-field team.

No announcement will be made until next week as Standard Sport understands that negotiations with the employers of the men Jones would like to bring in are some way from being finalised.

Steve Borthwick, who was Jones’s forwards coach with Japan during the World Cup, is understood to be the first choice for that role with England and now it is a case of negotiating a deal with his employers Bristol. There is the possibility that Borthwick could be loaned out to England, allowing him to see out the rest of the season with the Championship team.

If Borthwick cannot commit until the summer, Jones may ask Rowntree to continue for the Six Nations in the role he held under Stuart Lancaster.

The positions of Farrell and Catt are more tenuous. Saracens’ Paul Gustard is favourite to land the defence role that Farrell held, while fellow Sarries coach Alex Sanderson is also being touted as a possible member of the Jones team.
