Kyle Sinckler is set to return from a hamstring injury in time for the climax to the Six Nations.

England head coach Eddie Jones all but ruled Sinckler out of the championship on Wednesday stating that the team’s medical staff expected the Harlequins prop to be out for up to eight weeks. However, Standard Sport has been told that verdict was “very conservative” and the results of a scan on the hamstring suggests a much quicker recovery.

While Sinckler will struggle to make the matches next month against Italy, Wales and Scotland, he looks certain to be ready to compete for a place in the match squad against France on March 10 and Ireland a week later.

Exeter’s Harry Williams will be back-up to Dan Cole at tight‑head prop at the start of the Six Nations.
