Great start but Goode is playing it cool

Alex Goode insists England are not getting complacent after successive Six Nations victories have left them as the only team capable of winning the Grand Slam.

England have beaten Scotland and Ireland and on Saturday host a France side, who have made their worst start to a Six Nations in 31 years.

Saracens full-back Goode (above) said: “We are not complacent as a group or thinking above ourselves. We are looking to improve every game and looking at the Ireland game there were a number of areas where we can get better. There is no feeling that we have made it or are there as a top team but when we are at home we believe we should win.

“The fans expect us to win at Twickenham and how that sits with individuals is up to them. It doesn’t make a difference to me if we go in as favourites or underdogs and I am confident in the group.

“When we lost to Australia and South Africa in the autumn, I still felt we were going in the right direction and still feel that now.

“We are not the finished article but, hopefully, by the time we reach the 2015 World Cup we will be in a good place.”
