Harlequins have confirmed they are now coronavirus-free after a member of the club that tested positive last week was re-tested and declared negative for Covid-19.

Premiership clubs are due to return to action next month and are currently at Stage Two of their return to play phases, meaning players can be involved in contact and set-piece practice.

As part of the protocols, players are now being tested weekly for coronavirus and Harlequins returned a positive test last week.

The individual went into isolation along with any others identified as close contacts in both their team and household settings.

The person has now been tested again, however, and has been declared negative for Covid-19, meaning Harlequins are now coronavirus-free.

Harlequins Head of Medical Services Mike Lancaster said: “The news of zero positive test results from our first batch of testing last week is great for the Club.

“The protocols and policies put in place only come to life through the dedication of all the staff and players.

“The importance of respecting the guidance in place, both in the training environment and in the wider community, is our social responsibility, and we are delighted by the team effort to date as we prepare for the first Premiership game back at The Stoop.”
